چکیده

<p>The aim of this study was to estimate the limiting litter size components in rabbit females from a Synthetic line (n=32) and Local population (n=34). Ovulation rate, number implanted live embryos were counted by laparoscopy at 12 d after mating. Prolificacy (total newborn, born alive mortality) embryonic, foetal prenatal survival day birth 3rd gestation measured. The analysed traits body weight female mating, ovulation implanted, resorbed embryos, survival, as well total mortality birth. had higher rate compared (11.03±0.23 vs. 8.41±0.23 corpora lutea; <em>P</em><0.0001). displayed (10.00±0.25 7.85±0.25 embryos; No difference found between groups for embryos. Similar rates reported population. Additionally, newborn than (+1.46 kits; <em>P</em><0.05). A principal analysis performed. first four (PC) explained more 90% variation both lines. Litter size components in a full diallel cross of four maternal lines of rabbits.

A crossbreeding experiment between 4 Spanish maternal lines of rabbits was performed to estimate crossbreeding effects on litter size components. The experiment was designed as a complete diallel cross involving 4 lines selected for litter size at weaning (A, V, H, and LP [L]) and their 12 simple crosses. Does from these 16 genetic groups were distributed among 4 Spanish farms, but only V line ...

Heterosis for litter size traits in native by two exotic inbred pig crosses

Inbred strains generated from native and exotic pigs were compared with their F1and f2 backcross populations for a range of litter size performance traits. Animals were intensively reared and at 81⁄2 months of age, the inbred genotypes from each strain were reciprocally mated to each other to generate F1 crossbred genotypes; while gilts from each crossbred group were backcrossed to their male p...

Incidence of splayleg pigs in Nebraska litter size selection lines.

Genetic parameters for the splayleg (SL) condition were estimated from 37,673 records of pigs from six lines derived from a Large White-Land-race base population. Random selection for 22 generations was practiced in Lines C1 and C2. Line C2 was derived from C1 at Generation 8. Selection lines were as follows: 1) Line I, selected 11 generations for an index of ovulation rate and embryonic surviv...

Multivariate analysis of litter size for multiple parities with production traits in pigs: II. Response to selection for litter size and correlated response to production traits.

Litter size and production trait responses to experimental selection for increased litter size in a Landrace pig population are reported. The numbers of sows and litters available for the first cycle of selection were 3,034 and 961, respectively. Selection was carried out using a BLUP repeatability animal model for number of piglets born alive (NBA). The experiment included one selection and on...

Comparison of texture and biochemical characteristics of three rabbit lines selected for litter size or growth rate.

Meat texture and some biochemical characteristics that could influence meat tenderness were studied in rabbit loins. Rabbits from three synthetic lines were compared, lines V and A selected for litter size at weaning and line R selected for growth rate between weaning and slaughter time. The activities of cathepsins, collagen content and textural properties measured by Warner-Bratzler (WB) shea...
